Janey Clarke, Artistic Director |
Janey recent directing work in the West End: ANYA and THE DREAMWEAVER (Donmar Warehouse), THIS IS HOW A HEART BREAKS (Jermyn St Theatre), BEDTIME SOLOS (Soho Theatre) – readings. In New York: MURDER MYSTERY BLUES Off Broadway (Woody Allen short stories with original live jazz by Warren Wills, 59E59 Theaters). Off West End/other: WOODY ALLEN’S MURDER MYSTERIES (London title of MURDER MYSTERY BLUES, credits and details as above, at Warehouse Theatre, Croydon), THE RIVAL QUEENS (Nathaniel Lee, adapted by Dan Rebellato) at the Union Theatre, IN THAT SUMMER OF SWEET SIXTEEN at Old Red Lion Islington and WHY? A PASSION PLAY at St Martin-in-the-Fields, WC2, EXCELLENT BEAUTY by David H Wilson, STATIC by Ben Glanfield and AWAKE by Adam Kimmell (all at Union Theatre, where Janey was associate director.)
"I imagine Woody Allen would love director-adaptor Janey Clarke's classy surrounding textures given to the tales, and the brilliant jazzy-bluesy pastiche songbook by Clarke and Wills that drape themselves around each story to give a marvellously rich sub-texture, performed by a terrific sextet of actor-singer-musicians."
